Maleficent – Mistress of Evil

I may come off as bubbly and a ray of sunshine to many of you (and I am), but I definitely have a dark side, just like Maleficent, my all-time favorite villain – cue evil laughter👸🏻⚡️ #MeettheMinnies

If you watched the first movie back in 2014, you know Maleficent was not evil, just extremely hurt (many of us can understand and relate!) and sought revenge. But ultimately the love in her heart won over her, proving her love to be even truer than that of Prince Philip’s!! Ohhh the love between a mother and daughter! 💕 She has got to be the BEST Disney villain ever!

Maleficent – Mistress of Evil officially comes out TODAY, and I cannot wait to watch it! Celebrating this month with Maleficent as my @otterboxstyle#otterboxambassador

To my beautiful middle child

To my beautiful middle child – I heard birth order affects the growth of each child, but I brushed it aside, thinking I was more than capable of showering each child with an equal amount of attention and love, and raise them, by the grace of God, into amazing adults. After all, I got my Masters from Rice right? Joking! (It’s an inside joke between my husband and I when we do things that make us look uneducated, like him using a small bath toy to fill my diffuser last night that took him 8 trips from the bathroom sink 😑) I’m human, and as much as I try my best, I fail constantly.

I want you to know how much I see you, love you, and cherish the fact that I get to be YOUR mommy! You’re so beautiful inside and out. You have a big heart, a kind soul, and the sweet yet stubbornness that makes you uniquely you.

My super soft and dreamy dress is from @shoppinkblush! They also make the most comfy and stylish maternity wear!

Research shows that middle children may feel the most distance from parents than their siblings. I am determined to avoid this, and I will go on as many mother-daughter dates, play with you at home, and have as many photos with JUST you as I can, to show you that you’re not just sandwiched in the middle, but you’re blessed to live the full family life by being in the middle, and your mother (the person writing this) loves more than you’ll ever know 💕

Milktea Monday #2

Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian neighbors, and No-School I mean Columbus Day for all the parents here in America! Welcome to my 2nd edition of Milktea Monday, featuring one of my FAVORITE tea places ever – Feng Cha! 🍵

Magical Childhood

There is something truly magical about being a child. This sounds cliche but I find myself learning from my kids every day. Perhaps the fact that they give me so much to think about is why I reflect and need this creative outlet to journal so much. Their worlds are filled with endless possibilities, and they can be whoever they dream to be. Everything is an adventure and there are endless ways to imagine and create. Today my 6-year-old wanted to be Princess Sofia the First, and her friend decided she was Princess Jasmine.

Watching our girls play dress ups and our boys driving their toy cars together was so sweet. May they stay this beautiful inside and out, and become courageous and kind people 💕

On to the ALCS!

Way to go Astros!! On to the ALCS! The last time I was cheering at the Minute Maid Park, they still had the giant Mickey Mouse in orange Astros jersey outside of the squeeze play area.

According to my super fan friend @jathree, each MLB team has a Mickey Mouse statue gifted by the Los Angeles Angels when they hosted the All-Star game. The original Mickey to Houston Astros was actually wearing the red and white jersey, before it was painted orange later on when they got the new uniform color scheme.

Thanks Joe for the fun MLB Mickey Mouse facts! ⚾️ #letsgostros

My love for Mulan

I don’t know how many Disney Princesses are based on real historical figures, but I know Mulan is. I could recite the Ballad of Mulan, the longest poem I ever memorized, in Chinese since I was 6 years old. Thanks dad for teaching me every challenging word and line with such patience. 📚 I still know it really well to this day and have even performed it at a college event. I grew up hearing and learning about the heroic story of Mulan, which makes it very personal to me.
⠀⠀
For that reason Mulan will always be my favorite princess, but I also look up to and love many of the other princesses like Belle and Rapunzel. Is there a Disney princess who you relate to or mean something personal to you?
