National Daughters Day and much much more?!

I finally got around to my phone late last night, and realized I missed a National Daughters Day which I had not heard of. Oh well there seems to be a National day for literally everything 😆 Honestly though if you have a daughter or a stepdaughter or are a daughter yourself, isn’t everyday National Daughters Day? But I get it, there is so much to be celebrated about in our chaotically beautiful world, and these days help to shift our focus slightly to celebrate the little things or big relationships in our lives. 🎉

Disney and Motherhood

The love between a mother and daughter is forever 💕 I have a lot of respect for, and I’m very drawn to people who have good mother-daughter relationships, either with their moms/moms-in-law, or with their daughters.

#MeettheMinnies

Thanks @disneyinspiredlife for messaging me about #MeettheMinnies. So exciting to be part of the Disney community on Instagram! Pictured is me and my mini-Minnie’s! I had a lot of fun filling these out! 😍

Strong is the New Sexy

Remember that scene from Mean Girls where the plastics and Cady were in front of the mirror being unnecessarily self critical of their physical features? We’ve all done it, and that mindset robs the joy out of our actually pretty awesome lives! This “perfect” picture of me and my friend in Barre was the 6th and only picture taken that angled us in a way to make us look taller and thinner than we actually are, because I wished to have longer legs all of my life but have to accept the fact that I’m shorter than everyone in my family (including both parents) and will forever be 5’2”. My 1st grader is already a stronger believer than her mama, reminding me that God made us PERFECT the way we are ❤️

Thankful, Grateful, Blessed

I have so much gratitude in my heart today, that if I don’t write them down as I’m waiting in the carpool line right now, my heart might just explode (and thanksgiving colored confetti will come flying out)! I want to give praises to our Heavenly Father for His unconditional love and grace toward me. He has watched over my children, protected us from harm, given us amazing friends and family to lean on and love on, taught me what it means to choose joy, and showed me how much I need Him and how everlasting His love is for me. Thank You God! 🙏

Happiness depends on circumstances. But JOY is a CHOICE y’all!!! 💕

Tetraphobia

Since this is my 44th post on Instagram, I want to share about tetraphobia and why when we took our kids to Hong Kong this summer, we couldn’t find floor numbers with 4’s in them! (Swipe to see elevator buttons)

A Clean House, Happy Kids, or my Sanity?

One day, we decided we were tired of sleeping in and doing whatever we wanted in a clean house. So we had kids! ❤️❤️❤️

To be honest I still try really hard to keep my house clean, because I’m a perfectionist and hard on myself like that. But boy does it take away time from actually playing with my adorable children (“mommy can you play with me?” “No sweetie I have to wash the dishes, you go play!” 😔) Someone once told me that you can only have 2 of the following 3 – a clean house, happy kids, or your sanity. I’m so tired of struggling to have it all! 🤪

I’m making it my goal this weekend to be PRESENT with my kids! Dishes and laundries can wait!! 😉

Motherhood Role Models

We all need people to look up to in life. It’s how we are challenged, encouraged, enlightened and grow. I value surrounding myself with people who inspire me, and friends I adore who love me for exactly who I am without judgment. At the tender age of 30 something with 3 kids, I’m learning to be more intentional than ever with who I surround myself with.

Toy Story 4 Reflection

We finally took the girls to watch Toy Story 4! The meanings behind the subplots were more profound than meet the eyes, but I doubt my kids understood them. Overall I loved the heartwarming story filled with themes of friendship, loyalty, courage, teamwork and empathy.

Motherhood and a Masters degree, can you have both?

Absolutely, but it takes a lot of determination and hard work. Before the news of Matthew McConaughey becoming the newest professor at my alma mater UT Austin make you want to go back to school, perhaps hearing my experience of getting a Masters while raising kids can help you make a more informed decision! (For those without kids who are reading this, you will learn what it’s like to pursue higher education with children!)
